The Pharmacy Board of Sierra has cancelled six licenses and fined twenty four (24) defaulters of the Pharmacy and Drugs Act who were found wanting for breaching the provisions of the act which governs the operations and activities of the pharmacy profession and business in the country.

As a result of these offences committed by these patent medicine license holders, drug stores and pharmacies, the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone took the necessary steps in a disciplinary enquiry held on the 30th September, 2015 to fine defaulters of the Pharmacy and Drugs Act relating to the sale and distribution of unauthorized, substandard and expired drugs to the general public and operating a premise without the presence of the relevant health personnel.

In addition, three government pharmacists were also fined for allowing expired drugs to be dispensed under their supervision. The Board will continue to take drastic action against defaulters who are found wanting for offences under the Pharmacy and Drugs Act.
